Tofu Course - Group Lesson on Sep 29th.

There will be a Group Lesson on Tofu dishes. Tofu is a healthy, nutritious, low cost daily food that is very versatile. It is plain eaten by itself but when it's prepared properly it can be a satisfying meal. 
We will be preparing a full course dinner using Tofu and other Soy products. Class will be conducted in English and Japanese.

Please note that this class is not Japanese Home Cooking, but western dishes using Tofu.


Menu:
  • Tofu and mushroom verrine (shown in the photo)
  • Caesar Salad with Soy milk dressing
  • Tofu Gnocchi with Smoked Salmon Cream Sauce
  • Tofu Parmesan
  • Tofu Dessert

During the tasting session, the meal will be served with wine, followed by tea  or coffee.

Date : Sep. 29 (Tue) 11:00 am to 2 pm
Class Fee : 6,000 yen
This class does not use any meat products (only salmon) and can be gluten-free upon request.

In this course you will learn how to make the following:

Thank you for everybody for your interest in my Obento Class! I have set  up group lesson dates. I will also accept bookings for Private Lessons as well.

Group Lesson Dates (As of April 13th):
April 23rd (Thu) - Adult Obento (3 spots left)
April 24th (Fri) - Youchien Obento (2 spots left)

Class Hours :10 am - 12:00 pm (2 hours)
Venue:         Walking distance from JR Meguro Station or                           Fudomae Station (Nanboku/Mita Line)
                      (Exact location will be provided upon            
                     confirmation of booking)
Class Fee : 5,000 yen per person

For other dates,  Private Lessons can be given. (Booking for Private Lesson is full up to May 11th)

Private Lesson Fee : 8,000 yen for one person or 5,000 yen per person for a party of 2 or more. Please choose adult obento or yochien obento.

January Group Lesson - Ehomaki

Now that the New Year's Day has passed, you may have noticed the convenience stores and supermarkets taking orders for Eho-maki to be eaten on the 3rd of February. the day of the winter equinox. Eho-maki is a thick roll with seven kinds of ingredients representing the  7 gods of happiness. Eho, meaning good fortune, and maki meaning roll, we eat the whole roll silently facing the year's lucky direction wishing for perfect health and praying for prosperity. By the way, this year's lucky direction is west-southwest.

I will be holding a Eho-Maki Session on the following dates:

Jan 30 (Fri. ) 10:00 - 12:00
Feb. 3 (Tue.) 10:00 - 12:00

We will be making 2 half roll eho-maki with the ingredients of your choice. (Seafood, meat, vegetarian) 
In this class you will learn how to make sushi rice and tamagoyaki (Japanese egg omelet), cook the traditional ingredients such as dried gourd, shiitake mushrooms, koya-tofu.

Class fee : 5,000 yen per person (incl, refreshments and dessert)

Jan/Feb Group Lesson - Nabe (Japanese Hot Pot)

The seasonal menu for January and February is Nabe (Pronounced "na-bay"). A Japanese style hot pot which is a very popular dish during winter. For those of you who have experienced the Japanese winter must of noticed how cold it is indoors compared to your home country. With no central heating and double glazed windows, to sit around the table with a nabe in the middle is a great (not to mention economical)  way to stay warm at night on cold winter days. Besides the benefit of keeping our body warm nabe is also very healthy as we use almost no oil with lots of vegetables.

Group Lesson dates are 
  • Jan. 28 (Wed) 10:00 - 12:00
  • Feb. 17 (Tue) 10:00 - 12:00
  • Feb. 19 (Thu) 10:00 - 12:00

In this class we will be making yose-nabe. A hot pot with seafood and meat cooked in dashi (Soy sauce flavored soup stock) followed by udon noodles. You will also learn how to make tsukune (meat balls) for the nabe.

Class Fee : 5,000 yen per person (Incl. refreshments and dessert)

Private Lessons are also available for a party of 2 or more. For Private Lesson you can choose the nabe of your preference: 
  • Yose-nabe (as described above)
  • Mizu-daki (Chicken and chicken balls cooked in Chicken broth)
  • Pork and Hakusai(Chinese Cabbage)  Nabe 
  • Ma po (Chinese Hot and Spicy) Nabe
  • Vegetarian Nabe (With Tofu)
  • Sukiyaki (Beef)
  • Shabu Shabu (Beef and Pork)

Class fee for private lessons : 5,000 yen per person (for Sukiyaki and Shabu Shabu, 6,000 yen per person)

Menu of the month for November and December.

As the year end season is approaching, the theme for the seasonal menu for November and December is "Japanese Style Cocktail Party"  We will be making the following dishes perfect for a year end party.
  • Yakitori (Grilled Chicken with Green Onions)
  • Aburaage (Deep fried Tofu) Mini Pizza
  • Tofu Canapé
  • Sushi Balls
  • Avocado and Crab Verrine 

Served with a bottle of sparkling sake.

There are no group lessons in November and December. Please book a class stating the date and time of your preference and I will get back to you on the availability. Class fee is 5,000 yen per person for a party of 2 - 4 persons and 8,000 yen for one person. 

Available dates in Nov.  as of 27 Oct. : Nov. 10 - 14, & 25 - 28.  Please choose 2.5 hours between 10 am and 3 pm.

This is what we will be making for the October class. This menu is full of Autumn taste. 
  • Aki-shake (Autumn Salmon) with Teriyaki sauce
  • Agedasi Tofu (Deep Fried Tofu) with Autum Vegetables
  • Mizuna and Kaki Salad with soy milk dressing.
  • Miso soup with Shiitake Mushrooms and Aguraage.
Class Dates:          Oct. 22nd (Wed) and 24th (Fri.)  
Private Lessons are available at your convenient time for more than a party of 2.  For Details please go to Private Lessons.

Sushi Class (Oct. 8th) and Tofu Class (Oct. 10th) is still open for booking as well.  All classes are 5000 yen per person.
